DAXXIFY® is a novel wrinkle relaxer developed by Revance Aesthetics and announced in September of 2022. Its active ingredient is daxibotulinumtoxinA-Ianm, a drug derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and belonging to the neurotoxin class. This makes DAXXIFY® similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic and other wrinkle relaxers on the market.
Its mechanism of action is also similar to other wrinkle relaxers. The product is injected in unit measurements into specific muscles to temporarily prevent them from contracting, which also prevents the overlying skin from creasing and forming wrinkles. The effect lasts for several months.
The product treats moderate to severe frown lines, vertical lines between the brows also known as “11s.” Because it is so new, not many centers offer this treatment and there is a limited number of providers trained and licensed in treating frown lines with DAXXIFY®. DAXXIFY® uses the same active ingredient as other wrinkle relaxers: a purified neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes facial muscles. However, it has a very different formulation. While other neuromodulators use human or animal-derived proteins to stabilize their product, DAXXIFY® uses a plant-derived peptide stabilizer.
Its unique formulation has also made the product faster-acting and more durable compared to its competitors. Clinical trials have found that DAXXIFY® results are visible within two days and last six to nine months, which is up to three times longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Your DAXXIFY® treatment starts with an initial consultation with our providers. We will talk to you about your concerns and goals, review your medical history and determine how many units of DAXXIFY® you will need to achieve your desired degree of wrinkle reduction.
While not exactly painful, the treatment may cause mild feelings of pinching or stinging as the needle is inserted. We will discuss your options for discomfort management during your consultation.
The treatment takes less than 30 minutes to complete and requires no downtime. You can resume your routine immediately after. However, you may want to avoid strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, blood-thinning medications and supplements, alcohol and rubbing the treatment area for the first 24 hours. This is to prevent the product from spreading and minimize bruising and irritation.
After treatment, the skin between and above your eyebrows will appear smoother, with less prominent wrinkling. Your expression may appear softer and more relaxed as the product gradually takes effect.
What’s great about DAXXIFY® is that it is faster-acting than many other wrinkle relaxers, with many of our patients seeing a difference two days post-treatment.
