Rosacea Treatment in Lima, OH
More than 14 million people in the U.S. have rosacea – a chronic condition that can cause both embarrassment and physical discomfort. While there is no cure for the disease, laser treatments can help restore and rejuvenate your skin by decreasing persistent redness. If you’d like to learn more about rosacea treatment and you live in Lima, Celina or the surrounding areas of Auglaize County, OH, please contact us at the Vein Care Center to schedule an appointment.
What Is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic, long-term disease of the skin that is characterized by redness, bumps, pimples and, in later stages, thickening skin on the face and visible blood vessels. Rosacea sufferers experience flare-ups and periods of remission, often triggered by environmental factors such as extremely hot or cold weather, wind, humidity and sun exposure, as well as emotional stress, heavy exercise, alcohol and spicy foods. The condition most commonly affects fair-skinned women between the ages of 30 and 50, but men who develop rosacea often experience more severe symptoms.
What Are the Symptoms of Rosacea?
People with rosacea have at least one of the following primary symptoms:
- Persistent redness
- Bumps and pimples (may look like acne)
- Visible blood vessels
Rosacea can cause other symptoms, as well, including:
- Eye irritation
- Burning or stinging
- Dry appearance
- Thickening of the skin
- Plaques (raised red patches)
- Rosacea symptoms on other parts of the body, most typically on the scalp, neck chest or ears
How is Rosacea Treatment Performed?
Here at the Vein Care Center, we use Laser Genesis Skin Therapy, a noninvasive laser technology that effectively and safely treats the most difficult-to-treat symptoms of rosacea: redness and flushing. The laser destroys the inner lining of inflamed and visible blood vessels, causing them to disintegrate. The treatment isn’t painful – you won’t even need a topical anesthesia. You will, however, experience a warming sensation as the laser works its magic. Most patients achieve their desired results after four to six sessions, but a recent study of patients who had undergone laser therapy for rosacea found that patients reported a 40 to 60 percent improvement in symptoms after their second treatment. Be sure to check out the Before and After photos to see the dramatic results of patients who have been treated for rosacea at the Vein Care Center.
What Are the Benefits of Rosacea Treatment?
Laser treatment will give you better results than any topical medication available for rosacea. The results are also long-lasting, with many patients reporting that their skin has remained clearer for years after completing their treatments. It’s also a very low-risk procedure with few side effects when performed by experts such as Dr. Aggarwal and her qualified staff at the Vein Care Center.
Am I a Candidate for Rosacea Treatment?
The best candidates for rosacea treatment are those patients who have persistent redness or small but visible red lines. Unfortunately, laser treatment isn’t suitable for all rosacea patients. It should be avoided by pregnant women and patients with darker skin. It also may not be suitable for patients who scar easily, have a blood-clotting disorder or have insulin-dependent diabetes. At your initial consultation, Dr. Aggarwal will determine whether laser rosacea treatment is right for you.
How Much Does Rosacea Treatment Cost?
Although it is not typically covered by medical insurance, the Vein Care Center offers several ways to pay for your treatments. We accept cash, personal checks, major credit cards and money orders. If you would like to finance your treatments, you may do so through CareCredit®.
