Compression Therapy

Will support stockings or compression stockings cut off my circulation?
No not if fitted correctly they will not. The stockings are tightest at your ankle and slowly decrease pressure at the top of the stocking.

How long will support stockings last?
This of course depends on how often the stockings are worn and how well they are taken care of.

What if I only need a support stocking for a condition in one leg?
Only the leg with the symptoms or disease needs to wear the stocking.

How many hours each day should I wear stockings?
This is dependant on the reasons for wearing the stockings as the amount of compression. The Vein Care Center will discuss this with you upon prescribing stockings.

What is the difference between graduated support stockings and anti-embolism or T.E.D. hose?
T.E.D. or anti-embolism hose are for those persons that are non-ambulatory. The T.E.D. hose help to prevent blood from pooling in the veins in the leg. Pooling of blood in the veins of the leg may contribute to blood clots forming in the veins. T.E.D. hose come in only 5 sizes which means they are not custom fit. Graduated support stockings are made to be worn while you are mobile and are custom fit.

Endovenous Laser Ablation

How does the procedure actually work?
The energy source from the catheter irritates the vein walls, shrinking them and therefore closing the faulty vein so that blood can no longer flow through it, diverting blood to other healthy competent veins.
