What is Acne Treatment?
Acne is a condition marked by pimples and other lesions which are caused by the inflammation of your skin glands and of the tiny, narrow canals in the skin known as hair follicles. Marked by whiteheads and blackheads, as well as inflamed lesions that usually appear as small, pink bumps on the skin, or sometimes as nodules or deep, painful, pus-filled cysts that can cause scarring – acne commonly appears on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. While acne is not usually a serious health condition, it can cause significant emotional distress, as well as permanent scarring of the skin. Acne treatment at the Vein Care Center can address these issues with the FDA-approved Cutera Excel V which heats up the skin’s dermis and will help to improve active acne by exciting compounds called porphyrins, which live inside acne bacteria, damaging the bacteria wall, and effectively killing these bacteria which helps to reduce the symptoms of acne.
What are the Benefits of Acne Treatment?
Acne does not need to be allowed to run its course, and the condition can be treated. Acne is often caused by a plugging of the pores of the skin, and clinically, acne is described as a disease of pilosebaceous units which are found just under the skin on the face, upper back, and chest. These contain sebaceous glands that are connected to your hair follicles, which produce sebum, an oily substance that empties onto the skin via the hair follicles. Acne is partly the result of the action of hormones on your skin’s oil glands and hair follicles interacting with bacteria, and the benefit of acne treatment at the Vein Care Center is that it unplugs the pores of your skin by killing off the bacteria that lodge in your pores, causing acne outbreaks.
Who is a Candidate for Acne Treatment?
Acne isn’t just a problem that afflicts teenagers, and in fact, it is a myth that the problem of acne ends when high school ends. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), about 80 percent of people between the ages of 11 and 30 have acne outbreaks at some point. If you suffer from acne, no matter what your age, you may be a great candidate for acne treatment at the Vein Care Center, so contact us now to schedule your consultation.
What is the Procedure for Acne Treatment?
Acne treatment with the Cutera Excel V laser therapy at the Vein Care Center aims to prevent run-of-the-mill “zits” (papules and pustules), non-inflammatory acne (whiteheads and blackheads) and severe lesions (cysts and nodules), and it works on the premise of exciting compounds called porphyrins, which live inside acne bacteria. When the lasers excite the porphyrins, the porphyrins damage the bacteria wall, effectively killing the bacteria which helps to reduce the symptoms of acne. Laser treatment may also reduce sebum (skin oil) levels. Usually, four treatments, about a 2- 4 weeks apart, are recommended for best results. After your treatment, you can return to your regular activities with virtually no downtime. We have packages for these treatments (4 treatments in one package).
